The short version

At a glance

Choose the smallest stroller that comfortably covers your real everyday needs. A travel stroller, a city stroller, and a convertible double solve different problems.

Begin with the trip you make most often

The useful question is not which Bugaboo is best in the abstract. It is which one makes your most frequent journey easier. A parent lifting a stroller onto a train has a different priority from someone who walks from home every morning. Families carrying two children have another set of constraints entirely.

This guide compares the current US product lineup using manufacturer specifications. We have not tested these strollers ourselves. Treat the recommendations as a way to narrow your shortlist, then check the exact configuration, current instructions, and fit in your own car or home before ordering.

For a compact fold: Butterfly 2 Plus

The Butterfly 2 Plus is the natural starting point when folded size and carrying are the main concerns. Bugaboo lists it at 16 pounds with a folded size of 17.6 by 9.6 by 21.8 inches. It is worth considering for transit, frequent trips, or a second stroller that spends time in a trunk.

Compact does not mean universally convenient. Think about the surfaces on your route and how much equipment you normally bring. Also ask the airline about its rules before flying: the manufacturer’s IATA-compatible description is not a promise that your particular flight will accept it in the cabin.

For an everyday city stroller: Dragonfly Plus

The Dragonfly Plus sits between a travel stroller and a larger full-size option. Its practical distinction is a fold that works without removing the seat or bassinet. The reversible seat is another reason to consider it for daily use rather than choosing only by folded measurements.

Decide whether you need the seat-only version or the 2-in-1 package. Similar product names can hide meaningful differences in what arrives in the box. For a small apartment, measure the actual storage location with the stroller folded, including room to move past it.

For full-size outings: Fox 5 Renew

The Fox 5 Renew is the full-size single-stroller option to examine when larger wheels and a bassinet-to-seat setup matter more than the smallest possible package. The official specification lists 8.5-inch front wheels and 12-inch rear wheels, and the stroller has a reversible seat.

Its size is a tradeoff, not a defect. A full-size stroller can make sense when it stays assembled near the front door, yet be less convenient when it must be carried upstairs after every trip. The Fox does not convert into a two-seat stroller, so include your longer-term family plans in the decision.

For a growing family: Donkey 6 or Kangaroo

The Donkey 6 and Kangaroo deserve a separate comparison because they offer different double-stroller layouts. Donkey places children side by side; Kangaroo uses a tandem arrangement. Choosing between them starts with doorways, turning space, loading the car, and how you want the children seated.

Do not compare a basic single package with a fully equipped double bundle as if they were equivalent. Add the cost and storage needs of the actual second-seat or newborn components. A possible future child may justify flexibility, but it does not automatically justify a larger stroller today.

Make the final shortlist practical

Write down three non-negotiable needs and check them against two finalists. Then test the fold, handlebar position, basket access, and lifting motion if you can visit a retailer. Those everyday interactions often settle a decision that looks close on paper.

  • Measure the narrowest doorway and the usable trunk opening.
  • Compare the exact package contents, not just the model names.
  • Check seat, bassinet, basket, and accessory limits separately.
  • Leave room in the budget for only the accessories you actually need.
